Union App Giveaway!

Pixite has come up with some really inventive apps. Most mobile photographers are familiar with Tangent, Fragment. LoryStripes, Matter and Union. I'm very excited to be able to give away TEN promo codes for Union app. Special thanks to Ben at Pixite who so generously provided the promo codes for this giveaway.

What is Union?
Union ($1.99 on the App Store) enables you to make multiple photo compositions. With the various blending modes and masking capabilities you can create superimposed, silhouetted and double exposure images.

From within Union you can export your image to Tangent, Matter, LoryStripes and Fragment. This makes the transition easy to begin your edit in one app and continue in another Pixite app.

Below is a tutorial by award-winning mobile photographer, Brandon Kidwell. Brandon is known for his double-exposure imagery.

Here's another image Brandon created using Union. Click on the image to visit Brandon's website and see the step by step tutorial.

You are definitely going to want Union in your mobile photography toolbox. Sign up below by leaving a comment. Ten winners will be chosen at random on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. PDT.  Good Luck!

Just Released Union App | Giveaway!

When it comes to apps, you can count on Pixite for quality and innovation - do Tangent and Fragment ring a bell?! Today I'm happy to have a giveaway for the newest app in Pixite's portfolio - Union.  With Union you can create superimposed, silhouetted and double-exposure photos on both your iPhone and iPad.

How it works:

1. Load a background image, solid color, or transparent layer
2. Load a foreground image, solid color, or shape
3. Efficiently erase areas of the foreground image using Union’s palette of intuitive, user-friendly tools
4. Adjust the position and size of the foreground image to reach desired composition
5. Make color adjustments on the background and foreground so they blend seamlessly
6. Save your work in full resolution and, if you want, share Union images on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter – or email it to your friends.

Looking for Free Textures? Try Shadowhouse Creations

Back in the days when I did digital scrapbooking working in Photoshop, I discovered a site, Shadowhouse Creations created by Jerry Jones. Jerry generously creates these textures and offers them for FREE to anyone who would like to download them.

Shadowhouse Creations

His Terms of Use are simple and straightforward and his textures can be used for personal or commercial projects. Use any blending app to layer textures over your images. Apply different blending modes for various results. I use Sketch Club because it allows me to transform the layered texture to fit the aspect ratio of the photo I'm working on. You can add the textures above or below your image. Experiment and see what you like best. Or, try the Diana Photo app ($0.99) and let the presets in the app do the magic for you.

Below are some samples using various Shadowhouse Creations textures and the Diana Photo app.

Textured iPhone Photos

Here's the most recent set featured on his site - clicking on the image will take you to Shadowhouse Creations so you can download the zip file. Most of the files in this set are 3600 x 2800 pixels.

Below is an image I made using one of the textures from this set and the Union App ($1.99) to do the layering and masking.
